![]() Happy 125th Birthday, Hollywood Hollywood Heritage was part of the celebration of Hollywood's 125th birthday on Feb. 1, 2012. This day marks the day in 1886 that Harvey Wilcox registered his acreage as "Hollywood" a name his wife Daida, suggested - based on the name of an Illinois estate belonging a traveling companion she had met on a trip West. The Cahueng Na indians called it "The Valley of the Smoke" and the Spanish called it Nopalera. As Hollywood, the Wilcox property, primarily through its association with the entertainment industry, is now internationally reknowned. At right is seen (partially) Councilman Tom LaBonge, Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Chairman of the Board Marty Shelton, Councilman Eric Garcetti and entertainer Jimmy Kimmel. The celebration was held at Hollywood and Highland and featured "flash mob" dancers and an ornate birthday cake by "Ace of Cakes" chef, Duff Goldman.
