2004 Echo Park Historical Society Home Tour

The Echo Park Historical Society opens its doors for the second annual home tour, set for Sunday, November 14th, 11 am to 4 pm.

In keeping with this year’s theme of Hillsides and Hideaways: the 2004 Historic Echo Park Home Tour will feature a variety of homes, from early examples of the Echo Park Shack, Spanish, Craftsman, Italianate and Modernist architecture that dot the rolling hills and steep bluffs of Echo Park.

The tour serves as their major fundraiser for the year, an event that aims to promote the neighborhood’s past and encourage preservation and restoration initiatives. Some of the homes retain their original character, while others have been restored in a variety of ways. In a year that has not been kind to preservation, this is of special significance in the continuing efforts to protect their neighborhood’s natural spaces and architectural past.

If you’ve been wondering, this is your chance to look up-close and personal at what some have done to preserve and restore their homes.

Tickets will be $12 in advance, or $15 on the day of the event. EPHS needs volunteers, researchers, docents and ticket sellers. Starting Point: Williams Hall in Barlow Hospital, 2000 Stadium Way in Elysian Park. For more information, call 323-860-8874 or visit their Website, www.HistoricEchoPark.Org.
