On a gorgeous early-summer afternoon the gardens at Wattles Mansion was the scene for the Annual Salute to the Hollywood Heritage Volunteers. Steve Sylvester, Managing Director of Wattles, under whose hand everything runs smoothly and beautifully at Wattles, was gracious host and hard-working caterer amid the profusion of first-bloom roses and serene lily ponds. Joining the festivities were members of the Tinseltown Rose Society, who have been volunteering to prune roses and tidy the beds in anticipation of the best bloom in many years.
Much hilarity was generated by the imaginative door prizes, which ran the gamut from t-shirts to soap bubbles. Table snacks, buffet and libations were enjoyed by Volunteers and board members while, as they say in the movies, the sun sank slowly in the West.
