Screen Editors Hold "Chats" at Hollywood Heritage Museum

Once a month, on Thursday nights, the Hollywood Heritage Museum has played host to the Motion Picture Editor’s Guild "Fireside Chats." The chats feature a senior editor from the guild showing clips from their work and discussing their unique perspectives on the movie making process.

Though the audience has been limited to members of the guild at the editorial assistant level, the turnout has been overwhelming. This very popular program has been co-sponsored by the Guild and Diva Post, a post production services company with offices at the historic "Crossroads of the World" complex in Hollywood.

Each of the notable guest speakersz have spoken frankly about their experiences in the movie business. Carol Littleton, who is president of the Motion Picture Editor’s Guild, shared clips and stores from the making of Body Heat, E.T. The Extraterrestrial, The Big Chill, and Places in the Heart. Lynzee Klingman showed clips from the upcoming Man on the Moon starring Jim Carrey as the infamous comedian Andy Kaufman. She also revealed the inner workings of True Confessions, and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Bruce Green described his technique for While You Were Sleeping and Cool Runnings as well as showing different edited versions of scenes from Runaway Bride, the new film starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. Lan Heim, who began an exclusive professional relationship with the legendary Bob Fossee on the Emmy-winning TV special Liza with a Z, showed clips from All That Jazz, Network, Lenny, Star 80, and lead a headed, controversial discussion regarding his most recent project, American History X.

The "Fireside Chats" are a perfect example of using the facilities of Hollywood Heritage ot promote the oral hisotry of ht eentertainmetn business, incraese awareness of the museum in the Lasky-DeMille Barn, while reaching out to the professional Hollywood community.
