Is Your Membership Due?
Most Hollywood Heritage, Inc. memberships expired on June 30, 1999. Check your mailing label to see your membership expires in 1999 or 2000. A membership form is enclosed for your convenience.
Membership is a very important part of Hollywood Heritage, yet the organization has never developed it as such. Our time, as shown in the articles in this newsletter, goes into a multitude of activities and building operations. But, with the msueum re-opened and other tasks behind us, we will be dedicating much more effort to our membership development and benefits.
Your current benefits include: our revived newsletter (which will be published quarterly); free admission to the Hollywood Heritage Museum; discounts on Silent Society movie screenings at UCLA, the Paramount Ranch, and at the museum; and discounts on our upcoming fall lecture series at the museum. More important will be the satisfaction in helping to preserve the 1895 Lasky-DeMille Barn, as well as the continuing restoration at Wattles Mansion and Gardens, the enhancement of the Hollywood Heritage Museum and its growing archives, and from our rejuvenated historic preservation activities, where every member has a vote of support at government hearings and for Hollywood Heritage, Inc. project responses. We don't have a paid staff, nor do we avoid controversial projects because a politician or a big corporate donor (we don't have any) may be offended. So, membership and fundraising through special events is our main source of income.
Your membership dues and contributions are tax deductible to the maximum extent permitted by law. Individual member benefits are for the member plus one guest. Family benefits are for the member plus one adult and two children. Senior benefits are for the member only.
Your continuing membership is greatly appreciated today and in the future by those who will come see the heritage of the world's most famous community. Do we leave a restored El Capitan Theater, Cinerama Dome, Blackburn Apartments, Lasky-DeMille Barn, or will our heritage be the site of the demolished Brown Derby, demolished Garden Court Apartments, demolished Masquers Club. Your support will help determine which Hollywood we leave for the future.
