HHI Celebrates 15 Years of Restoration of the Wattles Mansion & Gardens with Open House

By Steve Sylvester

We look forward to the pleasure of your company to celebrate our fifteen year effort in restoring and maintaining Jualita, Gurdon Wattle's mansion and gardens on Sunday, June 14, 12pm to 3pm. We will be giving tours of the property and treat you to tasty refreshments.

The Mansion is a popular movie location. Recently a major movie was shot here-- Gideon's Webb, starring Christopher Lambert, Charlton Heston, Carroll O'Connor, and Shirley Jones. Rental proceeds go to the further restoration of the property.

The roses are blooming thanks to our new Rose Garden irrigation system, and with the invaluable help from the Tinsel Town Rose Society. Society members along with HHI Boardmember Anne Epstein have been lovingly pruning Jualita's roses during the Spring.

Additionally, the gardens now boast extensive new plantings, a newly restored wishing pond and fountain, and we replaced the long missing garden gazing ball.

The Mansion is located at 1824 N. Curson. Please R.S.V.P. (213) 874-4005
