Join us for a special Evening @ The Barn for FASHION IN FILM OF TCMFF 2023 with Kimberly Truhler.

The theme of the 2023 TCM Classic Film Festival (TCMFF) is “Celebrating Film Legacies” and that is just some of what is planned for the 6th annual FASHION IN FILM OF TCMFF event.** This year film historian Kimberly Truhler welcomes a special guest co-host - 2x Oscar-winning costume designer Mark Bridges.

The presentation will delve into the stories behind the style of 6 films featured in the festival's programming. As always, you will enjoy beautiful images from the movies accompanied by a conversation about film history, backstories of the stars, costume, and fashion designers, and proof of their ongoing influence.

Costume design helps establish a character in a film, and is often integral to plot lines as well. In addition, many of the actors and actresses were close with their costume designers, so you will get insights into their lives along with the evolution of their style.

This year's presentation will include:

ONE WAY PASSAGE (1932)

FOOTLIGHT PARADE (1933)

THAT TOUCH OF MINK (1962)

HOW TO STEAL A MILLION (1966)

In addition, the museum will have a special exhibit of some of Mark Bridges’ costumes from “The Phantom Thread” (2017) and “News of the World” (2020) courtesy of NBC Universal Archives and Collections.

Our museum shop will have a select number of copies of "Film Noir Style: The Killer 1940s" by Kimberly Truhler for sale and she has graciously offered to sign them.

This event is expected to sell out, so be sure to purchase your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment!
