About the Event
Each year in the spring Hollywood Heritage teams up with the American Cinematheque for the annual Whitley Heights/Hollywood Heights Walking Tour. Members from each organization meet up at the Lasky-DeMille Barn for a guided tour of the historic homes and hidden staircases in the neighborhoods just up the hill from the museum. Since we aren’t able to meet in person this year, we took our cameras out to the streets with a select group of knowledgeable guides to shoot our very first virtual walking tour and Hollywood Heritage members and American Cinematheque members are invited to join in the fun! You’ll learn about the legendary movie stars, architects and designers who worked and lived here during Hollywood’s golden age including Rudolph Valentino, Jean Harlow, Rosalind Russell and Donald O’Connor.
The tour will be streaming via Zoom on Sunday, August 30th at 11:00AM and will be followed by a live Q&A with author Charles Fleming whose book “Secret Stairs” is the definitive guide to the historic staircases of Los Angeles. The chat, which will be hosted by Andrew Crane from the American Cinematheque, will also feature Mary Mallory and Bryan Cooper from Hollywood Heritage in addition to Mr. Fleming and viewers will have an opportunity to ask questions of the panel after the tour simply by typing them into the chat bar on Zoom. Plus, signed copies of the book “Secret Stairs” will be available for purchase through the Hollywood Heritage online store (with free shipping included) at a special price. A limited number of MEMBERS ONLY tickets are available now for $15 each so be sure to reserve yours now. Once you have completed your purchase you will be emailed a Zoom link which you’ll use to access the program on the day of the presentation.
