About the Event

Hollywood Heritage planned this event prior to the recent tragic events that led to the demolition of this 120 year old property. The event will now serve as both a tribute to the Hollywood Center Motel and an opportunity to discuss how we can prevent more losses in the community.
Join Hollywood Heritage Preservation Committee co-chair Brian Curran and board member Mike Iwinski for a visual presentation on the century long story of the The Hollywood Center Motel on Sunset Boulevard during a free virtual event. The property represents layers of Hollywood history from a 1905 pre-consolidated Hollywood (the period when Hollywood was a separate city from Los Angeles prior to 1910) 3-story home in the Shingle Style to 1922 Colonial Revival bungalows and finally, 1958 breeze block walls, lettering, a pool and a towering marquee sign remaining from the days when it was a modern mid-century tourist motor hotel.
